The 5th BIO2023 Congress was held in Szczecin on September 13-16, 2023, which was also the 52nd meeting of members of the Polish Biochemical Society (PTBioch). The congress was organized by the Szczecin Branch of PTBioch headed by prof. Barbara Dołęgowska. The Parnas Lecture, inaugurating the Congress, was delivered by prof. Marcin Nowotny from the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (Warsaw). The Congress was attended by 254 participants, including 82 young scientists. There were 68 lectures, 44 oral reports and 127 poster presentations.
The Bioenergetics Section of the Polish Biochemical Society organized a bioenergetics session, in which dr. Bogusz Kulawiak gave a presentation.
