On December 4, 2023, the prestigious vernissage marked the commencement of the 5th Art & Science exhibition, unveiling the captivating project „Art of Apoptosis” at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology (Polish Academy of Sciences). This noteworthy event was a collaborative effort, co-organized by the Nencki Foundation for Supporting Biological Sciences, the Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Rzeszow, and the Nencki Art Collection. The Polish Society of Biochemistry proudly stood as a key partner in this innovative project. The exhibition’s curators were Magdalena Uchman and Miroslaw Pawlowski, and Adam Szewczyk as coordinator. Running parallel to the main exhibit was the BIO ART 2 showcase, a platform highlighting the artistic endeavors of students from the Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Rzeszow. The coordination of this auxiliary exhibition was skillfully handled by Julia Rut and Katarzyna Tereszkiewicz.
Special guests gracing the exhibition “Art of Apoptosis” included Emilia Pitucha, Joasia Dudek (ASP Warsaw), and Monika Polak (ASP Wrocław), adding an extra layer of distinction.
The exhibition remained open for public appreciation until January 11, 2024, offering ample time for art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the profound expressions on display. To conclude this remarkable showcase, a special event and guided tour were tailored for the doctoral students of the Nencki Institute.
This groundbreaking initiative, bridging the realms of art and science, reflects the collaborative spirit of institutions and organizations dedicated to advancing biological sciences and artistic expression.
